Benefits of Membership
Membership gives you access to an ever-increasing number of resources
that are only available to members. Besides the benefits listed below
consider the various types of membership available.
asapm members
derive benefits from having access to information and opportunities to
exchange information with professional colleagues.
- Members maintain currency in state-of-the-art practices through access
to PowerPoint and e-learning
- Senior managers benefit from better understanding of project management
issues
- Project managers benefit from learning about and applying best practices
- Project practitioners benefit from using the latest techniques to
implement their projects
- Members are given the opportunity to work with leading practitioners, vendors, consultants, and
others on special projects and reports.
Members also benefit from participating in asapm programs and learning through hands-on management of the Society. Regular
and Life members may serve in a variety of elected and appointed positions,
gaining
competence as well as serving fellow members.
Types of Memberships
Members of the Society are persons who are interested in the advancement
of project management as a profession. The Society consists of the following
types of Members:
Regular Member—$60
A Regular Member is someone who is engaged:
a. In project management, or
b. In disciplines or other professions that are related to project management.
This
category is the standard membership for individuals desiring to enjoy
the benefits of the Society and participate in its leadership. The amount
of annual Membership dues for Regular Members shall be established
by the Board of Directors. Regular Members have the right to vote and
hold office.
Life Member—$500
A Life Member is a Regular Member who, by long-term commitment,
demonstrates their support of the Society’s purpose. Optional
member services, such as the IPMA Journal, are not included in this fee.
Retired
Member—$30
A Retired Member is someone who:
a. Has been a Regular Member for at least one year, and
b. Is no longer being employed nor is self-employed on a full-time, permanent
basis, and
c. Is at least 62 years or is medically retired.
Retired Members participate in Society activities
and may serve on Committees or Society Projects, and have the right
to vote and hold office.
Affiliate Member—$30
An Affiliate Member is someone who is a member of another professional organization
that has a signed agreement to work with the Society in cooperative efforts.
Affiliate members are entitled
to participate in Society activities and may serve on Committees or Society
Projects, but may not hold office or vote. This category of membership
is designed for
individuals,
holding
membership
in another professional association, who desire to directly benefit from
asapm's project management efforts.
asapm has negotiated an
Affiliate agreement with Institute of Project Management, Ireland,
IPMI is the Irish Member Affiliate of IPMA, the International Project
Management Association. IPMI is the only organization with which we have
an Affiliate agreement, as of September, 2004. asapm encourages
members and prospective members who also belong to other professional
non-profit organizatyions to work with their organizations to help us
develop cooperative
agreements to advance the practice of Project Management in the USA.
Student Member—$15
A Student Member is someone who is:
a. Enrolled in an accredited school of higher education, and
b. Taking at least two courses or the equivalent each term.
Student members are entitled to
participate in Society activities and may serve on
Committees or Society Projects, but may not hold
office or vote. This category is designed
for students engaged is pursuing an education and desiring to associate
with professionals, or contribute to the advancement of the field
of project management.
Honorary Member
An Honorary Member is someone who has:
a. Made some significant contribution to the Society or to the Project
Management profession, and
b. Been elected for a gratis membership by the Board, and
c. Accepted the gratis membership as recognition for their contribution.
Honorary membership
entitles an individual to participate in the Society's activities, and
may serve on Committees or Society Projects, but
the individual may not vote or hold office. An individual may not be
an honorary member and hold any other category of membership. There
are no membership dues for Honorary Members. This category recognizes
individuals
who have advanced project management or asapm in some manner.
