Note from the editor: How’s the interaction between
your Project Managers and Sponsors? asapm is encouraging your participation
in a survey project headed
up by Patricia Sahm. She is researching the relationship between Project Managers
and Sponsors in Information Technology or MIS projects. Patricia will share
the results with asapm, and we hope our members and guests will participate.
To do so, you need to have both the Project Manager and the Sponsor of a recent
project complete the survey. Help advance the practice of Project Management
with your participation!
Here’s Patricia’s summary of this project:
Project Management is an increasingly important part of how our businesses
operate and how they achieve success. Much organizational research has studied
aspects of interpersonal interactions in organizations, but we know very
little about the interactions between project managers and project sponsors.
In an effort to fill this gap in knowledge and understanding, and to contribute
important insights to the project management community, researchers at the
Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University are conducting
a study focused exclusively on the interactions and relationships between project
managers and project sponsors.
Participation by project managers and their sponsors is of critical importance
to this study. If you are interested in participating, you will be asked to
complete a brief on-line survey (15 minutes) and to refer your counterpart
(project manager or sponsor) on a common project to the web site. All data
will remain confidential; no individual or company will be identified in the
final research study document.
