aPRO for Project-performing Organizations: Two Outcomes

The aPRO Standard for organizational assessment of project and program management performance has two purposes:

  • To Certify project or program-performing organizations as meeting threshold performance requirements, as specified in asapm's extensively-researched organizational standard.

  • To Assess organizations to identify the areas of greatest potential for significant pm performance improvement.

The aPRO standard uses the same rationale as asapm's Performance Competence-based Certification Program for individuals: To evaluate PM performance, or results, rather than merely concentrating on inputs or processes. This results in a more effective assessment, and requires less Assessor and organization staff time.

Assessment for aPRO Certification
Organizations that meet the aPRO Performance Criteria based on assessments by aPRO Recognized Assessors are already high-achievers in their market segment or government sector. And, now you can display the aPRO "badge". The Certification process involves engaging Recognized aPRO Assessors, scheduling interviews with key stakeholders at multiple levels of authority, and preparing evidence of PM Performance. asapm provides a list of the questions, and identifies the sample evidence that Assessors will be asking to review.

Assessment for Performance Improvement
Organizations that are not yet ready to certify as an asapm Performance Rated Organization can either perform a less-rigorous internal self-assessment, or can engage a Recognized aPRO Assessor for a independent assessment. Your results for your efforts: A list of areas where your actions will help the most to improve Organizational PM Performance, plus recognition of the performance opportunities for key stakeholders in your organization, so they will embrace the changes needed to seize them.

One Path
The advantage of working with a Recognized aPRO Assessor is that they have training and experience in accurately using the aPRO Standard in Assessments. They also have the proprietary Assessors Guide, that only trained assessors receive. And, they have experience in implementing the range of organization-wide adjustments needed to improve PM Performance, and perhaps, to identify the most-important actions you need to complete to certify as an asapm Performance Rated Organization.
