asapm Position Descriptions: Vice President


Major Responsibilities
1. Serves on the Board of Directors as a voting member.
2. Serves as an Officer of the Society.
3. Oversees the operations of the Society with the other Officers.
4. Serves as ambassador and Society focal point for interactions with other organizations.
5. Coordinates and tracks the planning and implementation of Directors’ actions, issues and
    accomplishments.
6. Signs legal documents, as required
7. Serves in the place of the President in her or his absence.
8. Delegates or performs the Secretary duties when the Secretary is absent.
9. Prepares a plan of actions for the next year and presents it to the Board of Directors.

General Duties
1. Participates in Board activities two or more times per year.
2. Reports the progress, status, and projected completion of activities under his or her immediate
    control.
3. Sponsors or identifies a sponsor for all Society projects, committees, and task groups.
4. Assures proper planning and coordination within the Society of all projects, committees, and task
    groups.
5. Participates in projects, committees, and task groups as requested.

Qualifications

  • Project management enthusiast with experience across a variety of industries including energy, telecom, finance, pharmaceuticals, real estate, media, professional services, non-profits and the public sector.
  • Believer in the power of mentorship, having learned from those with more experience and having provided support to anyone who asked.
  • Sensitive to the fact that there is more than one project management body of knowledge, having applied practices from a number of them (PMBOK® Guide, Prince2, Hermes, P2M, APM) and having worked with practitioners from different backgrounds.
  • Experience growing and managing large project management organizations at leading top-tier financial services firms.
  • Certifications include PMP®, Prince2, CompTIA Project+, and Advanced Object Oriented Programming with Java (NYU).

Goals for the Vice President Position

  • Support asapm’s guiding principals of advancing project management as a profession and as a means of promoting human welfare.
  • Increase asapm's membership as a means to increase knowledge sharing and networking within the Society.
  • Demonstrate the value of asapm corporate membership.
