Director of Standards


Major Responsibilities
1. Serves on the Board of Directors as a voting member.
2. Assures that asapm Standards development activities are aligned with the society's strategic
    goals and plans.
3. Plans and execute activities in accordance with the Standards budget.
4. Coordinates Standards development with other professional associations.
5. Represents asapm on Standards matters with other professional associations.
6. Ensures that Standards development activities are conducted in a professional manner.
7. Prepares a plan of actions for the next year and presents it to the Board of Directors.

General Duties
1. Develops annual plans to guide Standards development activities.
2. Contributes to the strategic plan for Standards activities and long-term goals.
3. Manages asapm’s Standards program, to include recruiting volunteers and appointing project
    managers.
4. Establishes and appoints members to the Standards Project Team.
5. Develops policies and procedures for development and maintenance of Standards.
6. Manages the Standards section of the asapm website.
7. Coordinates Standards development activities with other Directors and interested parties, as
    necessary.
8. Reports progress and status on Standards development activities to the Board of Directors at
    meetings, or as required.
9. Sells the asapm Standards program to the PM community

I currently serve as asapm Director of Standards. I was appointed to this position in May 2007, and will serve another three (3) years if elected to this position. My role and responsibility will be to oversee the development of asapm standards.

Statement of Qualifications:

  • Managed project activities for multi-million dollar product development.
  • Managed multi-member, multicultural teams.
  • Served at various levels of responsibility within for-profit and not-for-profit organizations.
  • Wrote and developed project documentation to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Wrote and developed documentation for manufacturing processes.
  • Wrote and developed product and laboratory standards.
  • Performed ISO and workplace safety audits.
Statement of Goals for Position

Work with asapm Officers, Directors and volunteers to:

  • Ensure that asapm's standards development process produces useful, valuable standards that will enhance the professionalism of project management in the USA.
  • Use an open, participative approach to standards development to ensure asapm standards reflect the needs of the profession.
  • Involve members on standards development to produce the best standards.
  • Grow the influence of asapm in using PMCert in competence-based certification.
