StacyCurrently Serving as President:
Stacy Goff
, IPMA-D, PMP

I have served asapm since its founding in 2001, and plan to continue to dedicate the time and resources needed to execute this position's responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • Sponsor of or participant in almost every asapm action over the last 8 years.
  • Representative for asapm and the USA with IPMA, the International Project Management Association for five years, supporting programs and policies that help us advance our causes.
  • Originator of PM CompModel (Project Management Competence Model) and the Competence Enabler program.
  • Prolific Speaker and Author of articles and papers, presenting at four IPMA World Congresses, and representing asapm at multiple USA and European conferences.
  • A PM Consultant since 1982, and PM practitioner since 1970; self-employed in my own Project Management consulting firm, ProjectExperts.
  • A project management practitioner who practices what he preaches.

Statement of Support for Lew Ireland's Positions and Practices
Outgoing asapm President Lew Ireland has served asapm and our members brilliantly for his term-limited two+ terms. If elected as President, I intend to continue his initiatives and goals for our society. Those include increased collaboration with other PM-related not for profit organizations. Our initiatives with IBDC, the International Business Development Council, have already significantly increased our exposure. Lew has established a framework for our continued efforts in this and many other areas.

My Vision for asapm
I have observed, in print, that every American over the age of eight (and some below) spends a majority of our time in projects. asapm offers a unique range of services and support for every one of us. With our range of entry-level to advanced offerings and services, we have the potential (although clearly not yet the capacity) to reach, and to touch, to manage needed change, to improve everyday life through projects, for over 200 million people.

A Caution, and Request
Since our founding, I have gradually assumed many asapm responsibilities that otherwise (in some cases) would not be done. This could mean that I am a poor delegator. Or, it could mean a dearth of willing and capable volunteers. Or both. If elected asapm President, I must turn over many of the roles I currently fill to others who are capable of doing a better job than I do. Thus, if you vote for me, I will ask you to volunteer your time to support asapm efforts and causes. Even though I have my own project management consulting firm, I have spent the majority of my time on asapm efforts since our founding. If you choose to elect me asapm President, I will need your help.

Goals for the Position of asapm President
Working together with asapm Officers, Directors, and other Volunteers, to:

  • Establish and implement strategies to ncrease the visibility of asapm, our initiatives and our certifications among Enterprises, Executive management and project managers.
  • Further increase the benefits of being a member of asapm.
  • Increase member volunteer efforts in the society's programs.
  • Expand the society's membership.
  • Increase the involvement of PM Vendors in asapm's programs.
  • Improve the use and usefulness of the asapm website and email newsletter.
  • Increase the opportunities for member-to-member networking through the asapm Members Only site, Congresses, Young Crew, and local-group formation using PMCoPs ( Project Management Communities of Practice).
  • Form asapm Chapters, where we have concentrations of members.
  • And borrowed from Lew: Expand the communication of project management concepts and practices to members, and to society.

What Most People Don't Know About Stacy

  • Raced Sports Cars (amateur SCCA E-Production and SSC) on the West Coast from 1975-1982, undefeated in my last three years, with lap records for my class on every track I raced.
  • Made a major life change in 1982 when offered two opportunities: To drive professionally for Porsche; or to leverage my PM experience into an international consulting role. I chose the latter.
  • Founded and served as President of a not-for-profit organization that achieved 50K members and 250 chapters in 15 countries (Atari Computer Enthusiasts: ACE, 1980-1982).
  • I have contributed to the growth and success of Project Management Institute since 1983, through introducing over 45,000 people to project management, by publishiing, and presenting at conferences at the global and chapter levels, and plan to continue to do so.
